Can Pomeranian Dogs Handle Cambodia’s Climate?
Living in a tropical climate country with high humidity and frequent rain showers can be challenging not just for humans but especially for fluffy small-breed dogs like my Pomeranians. Their thick coats, delicate size, and needs require extra care to keep them comfortable, safe, and happy.
There is no air conditioner in my house. To keep them cool, I have one ceiling fan standing by 24/7 just for them. My two dogs have their cage, but they don't normally sleep in the cage or with me. They sleep in the living room under their own fan at night, and in the daytime they go to their grandma's house, where they always get so spoiled. Grandma hand-feeds them food, and then they get to lie down and play with toys or bark at people who walk beside the street. I also shower them twice a week regularly.
In the rainy season, they are not allowed to go running in and out of the house. They had to stay indoors and play with their toys. Going for a walk only when it's a dry day, and I shower only once a week.
Grooming services can be pricy here, so I learned to groom them by myself, which was difficult at first, but later on I became better, and plus I have saved a good amount of money. I don't travel to places by car here in Cambodia; most of the time I drive my scooter or motorcycle to the local markets, and they enjoy riding with me to see people there and get all the attention, and they love it.
Raising small fluffy breed dogs in a hot and humid country like my country, Cambodia, requires patience and extra care for the pets. With the right grooming, hydration, and eating healthy, our dogs can thrive despite the harsh climate, and the reward is happy and healthy companions who bring joy to every rainy and sunny day.
